I would recommend to do it manually and set the process. And then for a paid tools.

knowing people in your industry that will link you always good. we have links on our some manufacturers and suppliers websites on their ‘where to buy’ page.
you can find some easy ones on resource pages, etc but they aren’t going to be of good quality so not that inpactiful. does your company you have linkedin or any other social media that links to your site? is your company listed listed on zoominfo or anything like that?
why would someone link to your site? what do you offer that would make someone want to link you?

Know the right people or pay.
You can of course publish great content and wait a decade till you may be able to compete with those buying links, but most companies can’t afford waiting and seeing forever without near term results.

I just pretend it doesn’t matter and work on other things. It’s so spammy doing outreach and I feel really uncomfortable about the whole thing.

Having quality valuable content is step one, but getting found initially is step 2.
So I ended up building a CRM system of sorts to help me reach out and build genuine relationships with other businesses, bloggers, influencers, etc.
I don’t just reach out asking for backlinks or asking to guest post. Just make quality valuable content and make friends and go from there
