GuestAugust 18, 2023 at 7:07 pmA few years back, we found a loophole that let us add any symbol to the ad copy.
We used emojis in all our ads and it greatly increased our CTRs. It worked really well.
Eventually Google caught on and closed the loophole.

GuestAugust 18, 2023 at 9:03 pmI once ran a campaign called ‘Who wants to meet The Rock?’ for a talent agency. It broke facebook and generated over 150k leads in a month.
The question was hypothetical but the ‘implication’ got everyone’s attention.
Our CPC was less than $0.01

GuestAugust 18, 2023 at 9:16 pmThis was years ago, but one of the companies I worked for – their previous account manager created separate campaigns by state. That’s fine.
Problem was he decided to put state abbreviations as negative keywords for each state. More specifically he had “IN” (Indiana) set as a negative keyword for all the other states.
Another instance, one of my former bosses meant to bid $2.50 on a given keyword phrase and accidentally entered in $250 instead. Of course it didn’t matter that much because it was a really specific tail term so we ultimately weren’t paying anywhere near that per click, but it was still funny.
Turning off search partners, and disabling the display network for campaigns was also a big one.

GuestAugust 18, 2023 at 10:42 pmJust turned on my marketing brain for various clients. That’s the difference between educated and YouTube learned. Had a client with an older TA that didn’t respond well to fast paced buy now messaging. Changed that by implementing a tailored landing page and CR went up from 0.5 to 2 percent.

GuestAugust 19, 2023 at 12:30 amNot a true hack, but I sometimes find that negative keywords are almost as important as the keywords you’re actually bidding on. Case in point, a semi-high spend client from 2018 or so with a strong brand presence somehow was matching to “fortnite vbucks” keywords. Without proper attention to detail within 1-2 days of launch, their brand budget could have been spent entirely on Fortnite terms.

GuestAugust 19, 2023 at 3:13 pmRemoved branded keywords from PMax, only bidding on shopping to display our products and let’s organic do its job. Plus setup brandverity to check if anyone is bidding on my branded keywords so I could report or activate a specific branded keywords campaign. This helped maximize my ad investment to not overly spend on people looking for us.
