  • What’s wrong with the current social media algorithm?

I am a digital artist who posted my artworks at both Instagram and X (FKA Twitter). Back in 2020, whenever I posted my artworks at the those two said platforms I could reach hundrer or even thousands accounts including those who not follow me and get 50-100 likes for each post, which I think as a great reach for a small account.

However, as the time passed, the engagement is getting lower and lower up until reach the point that my posts don't even reach my followers. The META's social media (Instagram and Thread) is the most obvious since I could only reach 1-2 followers or even, none. The same thing goes with Twitter since the platform was bought by Elon Musk.

It makes me wondering what happened with current social media nowadays? What kind of algorithm Zuckerberg and Musk used for their respective platforms? Should I purchase their so called "Premium" accounts only to have get more engagements?

There’s nothing “wrong” with the algorithms, but like all things in life, they evolve as technology and experience moves forwards.

People complain no matter what moves are made, because they are so used to what used to be.

Unfortunately, it means that accounts like yours have to adapt to new ways to use the platforms.

honestly..it’s no longer suitable for artists and actually engaging and having a community unless you play by the strict rules and be active almost everyday and do this and that..which just simply isn’t sustainable for anyone ESPECIALLY for artists..we just gotta try different things and try to manage until hopefully another new app proves to be good for artist and their communities

It’s all effort for engagement and page views for advertising. they make more money the more clicks and views and it goes towards those who can create the content or the likes which is either wildly entertaining or shock value. There is no more regular creator content that organically happens.
