  • What’s the best SEO plugin for WordPress and why?

Which plugin do you guys use? Yoast, Rankmath, SEO Framework?

And even more importantly, for which reasons have you decided to specifically use what you use?

SEOPress. It’s lightweight and easy to use.

I’d avoid Yoast at all costs. They have a history of shitty development and bug issues.

I feel like I’ve used them all. The best tool likely depends on your site and what your needs are.

SEO framework is lightweight and easy to use. It lacks some features for larger sites, though. Great for simple sites imo.

Rank Math has a ton of neat tools. Seems to work well, but I feel some of their features are gimmicky.

I have yoast on some older sites. After years of ups and downs, I don’t really use this much anymore. Mainly due to some plugin updates in the past.

The tools are just a means to save time and take care of some technical shortcomings in WordPress. The plugin you pick likely has little effect on how well your website ranks.

SEO Framework. Good set of free features, lightweight.

I just need a few extra features around SEO metadata, naming patterns, schema etc that are much easier than hardcoding in native WP.

I don’t need Yoasts beginner level traffic light and keyword ‘optimization’ ideas. I also don’t need such a big Yoast UI or showing scary looking (but contextually harmless) warnings to clients that makes them change shit or ask me. Also history of bugs.

I chose Yoast because it offers a comprehensive set of features for optimizing our site’s SEO.

It provides easy-to-use tools for on-page optimization, content analysis, XML sitemap generation, and social media integration. Yoast also offers regular updates and excellent customer support, which is important for us to stay up-to-date with SEO best practices.

I personally use RankMath. It has a sleek interface and dynamic features. It’s bring a modern touch to the SEO work 🙂 The AI-driven suggestions for optimizing content and the extensive schema support resonate with my workflow. Moreover, the built-in 404 monitor and redirections streamline site management.

RankMath. Never had any bugs. And the instant index feature is sweet.

I never used WP SEO plugins, and my sites built with that CMS are fine.

ZD Headers Tag is a really old and simple plugin, allowing to write a different title than H1.
Then take any simple Google Sitemap.

    What else do you need?

All you need is an ability to manage 301s, page titles, schema.

    The rest is pseudo science

I have initially briefly checked all popular plugins, and picked Yoast (luckily, years without any major bugs or issues that would significantly affect my work) but then Rank Math joined the stage, so I installed it on a few websites and used both ever since.

I don’t remember exact examples, but there were times I couldn’t do something on Yoast, but it worked fine with Rank Math, and I don’t remember ever having that the other way round, so in my case if I had to pick one, it would be Rank Math for it’s features.

From what I see, people talking about bugs and vulnerabilities also pick Rank Math (or at least not Yoast), so Yoast seems to be riding on the wave of popularity, but it’s up to every user to check for the features they can use best.

I’ve been using SEOpress for past couple years after jumping off yoast.

It does what I need it to…

I use Yoast. Because it is old and gold!
