I run an expat community page on Instagram targeting existing and prospective expats in my region. The account is two years old but I have only recently (last 4 months) started generating daily content and putting more effort into it as I try to stay ahead of the curve in an increasingly competitive market. I now post several stories and a minimum of five posts or reels a week, trying to create unique, relevant and informative content.

I looked at competitors and I am always trying to stay ahead of the curve and use a unique voice, I engage a lot with similar smaller and larger accounts as well.

The last two months I had an average reach of around 18K that translates to approximately 200 followers on average. I have 1.8K followers. Do I need to attempt to go viral in order to boost this? Do I need to try to “crack the algorithm”? Do I just keep on experimenting with content to figure out what prospective followers are interested in? Or is this actually not too bad?

I would experiment with a few different styles & then when you get a lot of activity/engagement on one… Go hard on that style, boost the post, repost it every so often, and stick to it. You could even survey your audience with polls & ask them which styles and or type of content they want to see more of. This also helps with engagement.
