  • What to Charge for Content?

Hello – I’m very new to the content creation world. I have an Instagram acct with asmall following (200) but in the past month – I’ve almost doubled my follower total and my reach has skyrocketed thanks to a major retailer using my post in their story. So in short – I’m small but growing. I have created 58 reels and have over 160 pieces of content since I began in mid May. I reached out to a small business to ask about content creation opportunities (assuming they would send me product and I would create a few reels). Instead they asked me to create 5-10 reels within the next month and they want to know what my price is. They also are interested in memes and stories/posts. I have no idea how how to gauge what I should be asking for. They haven’t proposed anything at this point. Should I charge per reel? Per story/post? Should I charge for any edits to approved content? Help! And thank you!
    Matt

Always better to toss it back and ask what their budget is and you can try to work with them to deliver as much as able within their range through various types.

Congrats on your growth, Matt! For pricing, consider charging per reel, story, and post, plus a fee for any edits. Research industry rates for content creators with similar experience to set your prices competitively.

You can ask them what their budget is, and then you can take a value in the middle that you think is appropriate.

$300 a minute. Never ask a customer what their budget is.

Ask a influencer in your industry

IMO the minimum is the time it will take you to create it x $15/HR. Anything more than that you have to determine yourself. As an independent contractor, the only thing you have to go on is your own self worth. You find that by making offers, getting rejected and either accepting a counter or bidding lower on the next client.

Congratulations to you Matt. My advice is for you to charger per hour based on how long it’s going to take you to create whatever content you have to. But charge separately for any edits.
