What should I do next to grow as a social media manager?
Posted by ramzauva on October 11, 2024 at 6:15 pmHello everyone, so I got into social media management three years ago and so far it’s been something that I enjoy. I work for a tech company and take care of mostly organic content and slowly getting into paid social as well. Prior to this I worked as a journalist/ reporter and a content strategist/ writer.
I want to master paid advertising on all social
media channels and get into analytics as well.Give me your suggestions, tips, guide to resources or personal stories of growth that I could take inspiration from!

GuestOctober 11, 2024 at 8:56 pmAs you mentioned, data analysis and statistics are important for decision making, strategies and when carrying out an advertising campaign. I also recommend that you learn a little about graphic design, remember that you make the client fall in love with the sight and having a good graphic line says a lot about a company or business. Get informed about new trends and artificial intelligence, with this you will be able to create content and discover tools for your work.
Good luck, I hope it helps you

GuestOctober 11, 2024 at 9:30 pmForget about learning to be a half-baked “jack of all trades.” Dive headfirst into data. Analytics is where you’ll find those golden nuggets that boss up your strategy game. Been there, done that—crunched through the numbers and turned content into cash flow. Also, check out courses from Coursera or LinkedIn Learning; their analytics stuff is pretty legit. For social ads, test and learn endlessly. Tried AdEspresso for testing Facebook ads—pretty handy, though Facebook’s own tools are more reliable. Plus, Pulse Reddit monitoring helped me discover crazy insights by keeping tabs on what’s trending on Reddit, and it’d be cool for analytics practice.

GuestOctober 12, 2024 at 12:20 amHey OP.
I might be going a bit broader than what you’re looking for but I figured it could add value to your journey.
Regardless of the skill or platform – learn how to tie whatever is the thing you do towards the things that matter to the company or to your skip level manager.
Doesn’t matter if is social, content, paid, analytics – if you’re able to prove how you drive revenue, how you move the business forward with your work – you’re going to find success most of the time.
If you’re enjoying Social Media – dive deeper. Random thoughts:
* How to measure the impact of organic into broader brand equity / sales;
* How to measure comments / reach / followers and the translation from brand equity to dollars;
* Digital PR and relationship with influencers / creators;
* Organic Social impact in owned channels;
* NPS score and call center relationship / cost reduction;I don’t think my content would be the best fit for what you’re looking for but I cover some aspects around Niche Pages, Deeper dive on the algorithm of some platforms and organic growth – perhaps there is some value / perhaps not – but give it a go on my profile.
Wish you great success in your career!

GuestOctober 15, 2024 at 5:21 amIt’s great that you’re in social media management! To improve your skills in paid advertising and analytics, focus on one or two platforms and take online courses like Facebook Blueprint. Run ads to see what works and keep up with industry changes through blogs and online groups. Learn to read data from tools like Google Analytics, and test different ads to improve. Reading helpful books and listening to podcasts can also provide valuable tips. Finally, connect with others on LinkedIn and attend events to learn from their experiences. Keep learning, and you’ll grow quickly!
