What is your CTR and impression count in the Google Search Console the past month?
Posted by Existing_Eagle_1 on July 30, 2024 at 3:27 amAnd how long have you had your website? How quickly have you been growing?
For me, I have a CTR ratio of 17% with only 310 clicks in the past month. Wondering if it would be smart to start using more popular but competitive keywords to increase my number of impressions, even at the expense of a lower CTR.

GuestJuly 30, 2024 at 4:24 am17% is crazy high! I’m on 1.3% and pretty happy with it.
I’d recommend going for more popular keywords to increase your impressions

GuestJuly 30, 2024 at 4:41 amMy impressions and clicks dumped by about 80-90%, however over the last 4-5 months my CTR went thru the roof.
I’m averaging about 10-15% CTR daily now.
Seems whatever impressions my site IS serving for is getting a high rate of engagement on the SERP page.

GuestJuly 30, 2024 at 5:07 amAfter last year update my CTR went from 1.2 to about 10%. I’m not really sure why is that, because at the same time I’ve dropped about 10 places in average position.

GuestJuly 30, 2024 at 6:21 amSorry, but this is a useless question without more context.
At first sight 105+ seems to be high in general, but what are the KWs that make this hidden CTR?
What is the ratio of branded and generic impressions.
What are the rankings for branded kws? What are the rankings for generic kws?
This will make a huge impact on your CTR…If all of the keywords are **branded** searches, i’d say this is a very bad CTR
If all of the keywords are **organic** searches, i’d say this is an amazing CTRAny of the repliers here has different ratios and rankings within each one of those groups.
Different number of KWs that generate the total impression and clicks and so on -

GuestJuly 30, 2024 at 6:46 amYou need way more context and nuance. I have client accounts which sit at like 30% ctr for branded and some at like 70%, I have client accounts at 0.5% ctr for unbranded and some at 3-4% ctr for unbranded, when industry averages sit at about 2.5-3%.
Also massively depends on the market, niche, keyword, brand awareness and a host of other factors.
But you expecting and wanting people to give out first party data is dumb, especially if you’re wanting to know identifying factors too. There are entire resources for industry CTRs, go look at those. Your humblebrag is idiotic.

GuestJuly 30, 2024 at 2:06 pmLess than one month old site. 300 impressions 0 clicks. It’s a utility site offering free to use tools, got about 12 of them on there. And then around 9 articles targeting long tail & low volume keywords. All pages indexed but haven’t yet seen all queries related to the articles appear in GSC. Hoping some of the pages rank and will start to see some clicks. Even 1 click a day would give me some confidence that I am doing things right and spur me to write some more content. It’s demotivating
