We have got a situation here. Any thoughts?

    Hey guys.

I got involved in a strange situation. My company in central EU was hired by another company in central EU to do PPC campaigns and to drive sales into their business. The client was a bit strange, a bit unresponsive, however, they paid the first 2 invoices so I thought okay, maybe they are just like that.

A couple of months forward, they started creating new domains and asking me to advertise those together with the old ones as well. What can I say? I agreed, installed conversion tracking, launched new ads, all was good.

After that they became unresponsive again, so I was sending emails, asking what’s going on, etc. No response. Then I thought I will check their website and look for some more contacts and once I hit enter on the URL it had a message from a local police department that the url was seized and being under criminal investigation. It looks legit. No strange links, only the address and the name of the local police office.

Should I get in touch with the Police and let them know that my company was kind of working for these guys? What would you do? I am a bit freaked out tbh.

Get in contact with a lawyer and start from there.

This doesn’t make sense. Google would flag the URLs if they were suspicious or there was an issue and you didn’t check the website or any of the domain names before you sort of advertising? No shots at all it’s an odd situation but it just seems like some logic was missed.
