  • Using a cdn to speed up WordPress blog for mobile – for dummies

Posted by Gambler_90 on May 12, 2024 at 3:24 pm

I have a WordPress site that tests fast on desktop and slow on mobile. It is a very basic blog about 300 articles with Adsense. After doing some research the most recommended thing to do is to use a cdn such as quic cloud cdn or something similar. Can anyone offer an insight or advice before I implement this. Thank you

If it is “slow on mobile”, then it could also be faster on Desktop. & don’t expect folks to have solid ‘high speed internet’ at their ‘desk’, which could be a laptop in a cafe, hotel room, etc.

So try not to use too many WP plugins, ensure you have images that match screensize, try to use a ‘pre-render’ service, & Cloudflare is decent, but there may be better choices.

Adsense will always harm your PageSpeed Insights in mobile, because the Javascript is called at the begining.

I modified that call to be done when users start to scroll down in mobile.

I get 100 score. But, honestly, I’m not sure if it’s worthy. I’m loosing Adsense money, and not sure if it helps me to improve my SEO ranking.

Greetings from India brother. What’s the website? Use ‘dev tools > network’ and see where the slowdown is

A CDN can impact your SEO negatively by moving your images off your domain. I would make sure to use a CDN that lets you set a custom domain and make it a subdomain like “cdn.yoursite.com”.

Before implementing a CDN, run a Pagespeed Insights report and follow some of the other recommendations there. For a quick and dirty optimization, I would install WP Rocket and Imagify and make sure they are configured properly. That alone can significantly increase core web vitals.
