I think you have a great start so far. Based on what I’ve seen others in this niche doing, it seems helpful to show the final product at the beginning of the video in some way to hook the viewers and allow them to see what you’re creating. I would also go for quicker edits in between each step to make the video a bit more satisfying. You don’t have to go overboard here, just a speed up the pace a bit.
Another thing I’ve seen do well is voiceovers. You can talk about what you’re doing on the screen or even a completely unrelated story to get people to stick around. I’ve seen tons of these videos where I couldn’t care less about what they were cooking but I watched the whole thing because they were telling an interesting story.
I would also look to find ways to add some personality to the videos to make people come back for you as a person. This niche is super saturated, so your best bet to stand out here is your own unique personality. Show yourself reacting to the first bite of the food you made at the beginning, make some jokes here and there, tell us how you came up with the recipe. People like people.
If you start showing yourself or adding voiceovers, make sure you’re actually grabbing their attention in the beginning. The 8 formats I like to go off of are:
1. Question Hook – Ask an intriguing question your viewers have probably asked themselves
2. Story Hook – Start it as fast as possible and make the beginning something actually interesting
3. Metaphor Hook – “Food is like…”
4. Listicle Hook – The top 3 ___
5. Statistic Hook – 94% of people don’t (surprising thing)
6. Tutorial Hook – Here’s how to make ___
7. Controversial Hook – Start it with a polarizing statement about your niche (obviously don’t be offensive)
8. Transformation Hook – Tease the before and after
I hope this helps!
