    Tiktok issue- views

So I’ve read a couple of posts concerning potential reasons for a drop in Tik tok views but none seem to concern my problem. I’ve had my account for about 2 months and I am a small creator (14k likes, 120 followers). I’ve made probably 30 videos at this point and It has mostly been a continuous upward trend in views with the exception of 1 viral video that is still climbing past 100k views and 11k likes from 2 weeks ago. My content and engagement rate has only been getting better (3 out of my 4 last videos have had 30% like to view ratios) but tik tok just cuts off my views at a certain point for seemingly no reason. Videos which are getting likes so fast I can’t refresh the page quick enough to see the notifications are simply stopping at 600-800 views and my last two videos have both stayed under 200 views. What is going on? Why are my views stagnating? It can’t be how new the account is, as I’ve made 30+ videos and had it for 2 months, can’t be a lack of engagement, so am I shadowbanned? It’s a comedy account but I haven’t said anything racial or particularly insensitive. Wtf is going on

videos just don’t go viral because they get likes fast. Just because you get 800-900 likes quickly doesn’t mean your video is trending on the for you page. I’ve had that happen, but it’s just all part of the algorithm. They might flash your video on some people’s for you pages for a short period, but transition it off if it’s not popular enough. Tik tok shows people videos based on what they like, share, and spend time watching, or what is going really viral. It’s an interesting app. I’m not an expert but that’s what I’ve seen people talk about.

this would be a good question to steer towards a subreddit wiki / FAQ. see the announcement at the top of the subreddit.

Look into how tiktok got started, purely by paying influencers and manipulating views.. they’ll screw over advertisers too because that’s how it works in China

Look at the 100000000 other posts about this in this sub. Same answer. This is exactly how TikTok works to get you hooked in and make you think your content is special and people actually want to see it.

The algorithm has changed recently. Tiktok now favours Shares as the best engagement value then comments then likes. Overall watch time and rewatch rate are also still very important. Do some research on Account Authority and Distribution Tiers. It is highly likely that your videos are doing well in the first tier of distribution but not well enough to make it past tier two and nowhere near well enough to make it into tiers 3 and 4. The time at which you post can also make a huge difference.

Deleting videos that don’t do well also affects your Account Authority basically telling tiktok that your videos don’t do well hence why you delete them so much.

If you haven’t heard of it, there’s also a thing called a Delayed Explosion. This is where tiktok will take an older piece of content and start the distribution cycle again (test it against tier 1 and so forth). This means that a video will always still have a chance to blow up a week or even a month later after it was posted.

A lot of this information was revealed by a TikTok engineer and is actually quite widely known amongst tiktok creators. I recommend watching YouTube content from Joseph Todd and Robert Benjamin who both speak about this in better detail than what I’ve written above.

    Hope that helped.

Edit: forgot to include that Engagement Velocity is super important as well. This is how fast a person will engage with your video (like, comment or share) from the moment they start watching.

Keep on! Most of tik tok accounts have shitty content or very empty. I recommend you do family friendly content: stay away from sexual references and basic stuff like that and if you keep posting you’ll be fine.
Also take the trends and give them your own twist. Social media companies doesn’t discriminate creators unless you give them a reason

I just started TikTok a week ago. My average view count is about 150 views with 8 total videos so far, though one of them has about 800 views. I only have 4 followers. I have no idea why 150 seems to be the limit now. I think I would have been less surprised if the view count was lower than that–I find 150 to be such a weird number for the views to usually stop.

Granted, I didn’t know about the whole “don’t delete videos, it can affect the algorithm” thing and deleted a few after the 800 count one. Don’t know if that has something to do with it (though if it does I will be very disappointed that I’ve screwed my account.)
