Those working for panelist recruitment type businesses – Does a $3.5 CPL sound possible?

    Hey everyone,

In a couple of weeks I'll be working with a client that has the objective of recruiting users to complete surveys in exchange for discounts, gift cards, etc.

The client will be expecting about 4k leads at a $3-$4 CPL. This seems quite tough knowing that the process consists of a user filling out a quick form, verifying their email, and then going through a demographic questionnaire with about 15 questions until they are considered a lead.

I'm forecasting about a $1-$2 CPC, which means I'll need about 1 of every 3 users that click on the ad to go through that entire process in order to achieve the CPA goal. This is where I'm a bit skeptic, that's a 33% conversion rate. Unless they're offering free gold for surveys I don't have a lot of confidence this goal could be met.

I come mostly form an ecommerce background, so the whole lead objective is more foreign to me compared to sales. So that's where my question comes in: those of you working in lead gen and for a similar business model, do you see this being possible? What are the average CPLs or conversion rates you're seeing?
