Switching URL between two pages hurt SEO?
When you create a new page with the same url as one that exists on your site, WordPress changes to slug to /services-1, instead of just services. If I change the name of the original to /services-1, then create the new page with just ‘services’ will Google know the difference? Is there something in the HTML that will tell them that it’s actually a different page? Or will they just look at it as a page redesign?
I would just redesign the page that exists, but my client’s old designer created custom categories and urls using a plugin that I won’t be able to use (it also formats the pages weird), and when I turn it off, the pages under that category are nowhere to be found on the backend. I’m thinking if the method above won’t harm SEO then I’d prefer to just do that.
