Sudden Extremely High Avg CPC overnight for Performance Max campaign, what’s wrong??
Suddenly overnight, our performance Max campaign has an avg cpc. of **£23** and a whopping **£90** in the morning (at around 7am). What’s the cause for this potentially? we paused the asset temporarily but have no idea what’s the cause to such a high avg cpc.
The campaign has been running fine, over past couple of days, I added a few asset groups but this shouldn’t be interfering too much with the learning?
Any advice on this please?

1.Check conversions. Is the tag firing correctly. Were there any changes to conversions actions
2. Did you make changes to the target / bid strategy
3. Did you drastically reduce your budget while maintaining a similar CPA (assuming you have a target)
4. Are you using max conv with no target and increasing your budget?
From what I can tell from the behavior, pmax is looking at search and sees a good opportunity to convert OR taking risks and adjusting to a change that is impacting it’s ability to hit a performance goal.
Let’s start there.

How long has this PMax campaign been running overall?
One day of data doesn’t tell you much. It could just be an off day and things go back to normal tomorrow.
