Stories are reallly great for building a relationship/trust with your current following. Building loyal followers is important. Make sure you’re story postings are relevant and engage-able. Using story widgets like polls, are ways to get engagement.

What is the subject of your content? I have used stories of true ghost stories as a paranormal investgator to build my audience and promote my book on the same subject. For this type of interaction, it worked well. I started a sub here and used it in conjunction with Facebook. Story tellers here asked to use my stories also, and I was able to use those as content video content from YouTube. For this type of usage, it worked great.
Consistancy is the key. You have to hold peoples attention and leave them wanting more. Having both written and video stories had an unexpected effect. People liked the contrast and often commented on which way they thought a particular came across better. It was a really fun way to promote my writting.

Stories are great for engagement, but you shouldn’t depend solely on stories to drive engagement. Make sure to interact with the audience. Add polls, go live, etc.

It doesn’t just magically drive engagement – it’s a tool that you can drive strong engagement with. What sort of hooks/questions are you using in your story captions? How frequently are you doing stories (per day)? Are you doing polls/questions that are relevant to your niche?

Also, ask followers in a caption or story to add you to their favorites so they always see your story.

Stories absolutely work when utilized correctly. At 17k followers, I have been able to consistently keep my story views at 1k, sometimes dipping to 800. But if utilized wrong, it’s easy get your story pushed to the right, limiting the visibility.
