It’s still very possible to grow your account. However, I do wonder how long the account has been inactive for? Also, growing to 80k followers before and after IG was acquired is still a job well done imo.
That aside, you still do have a decent amount of following. The main issue you may be facing right now is that your posts are not being shown to all your followers, due to the long inactivity. You’ll probably have to do a little more work in order to reach those accounts again. This can probably be achieved through activity (stories, comments, posts, etc.) It will definitely feel a lot slower at the start, but I really doubt it’ll take you years to continue to grow.
Some changes that you may want to take into account:
* Content shared has to have meaning (informational, entertaining, etc.)
* I’ve noticed that instagram has some sort of SEO involved to help show your content to the right audience. Make sure your caption and hashtags are relevant to your content
* Play around with your posting times, check out your audience active times and try to post an hour – half an hour before peak active time (e.g. active time is 9am, post between 8-8:30). This is to just get some traction on the post before the peak time, helps with snowballing the reach/engagement
* Reels does seem to be more valued lately. Reels can also take time to pick up, could be few hours, days, or even weeks
* Stories that your audience enjoys can also help push up your posts on their timelines
You were able to gain 80k followers, gaining that next 20k might feel far but I’m certain you have what it takes to reach that goal. Just make sure you’re adapting to current times (don’t feel pressured to follow dance trends if it doesn’t fit your niche, I see this far too often… it will have little/wrong impact on your account).
