Starting out on Google Ads as a beginner

Posted by kossovar on October 16, 2023 at 5:44 pm

    Hello everyone,

Hope yall doing great, I am a front end developer working freelance, I’ve done a couple of projects for a couple of clients and one of them asked me if I could run Google Ads for his business since he was happy with my work when I created his website (I understand that web development has almost nothing to do with Google Ads lol).

He’s very keen to have me work on this myself although I have no experience with Google Ads so my question is whether I should try to learn the basics ASAP and get started on it or I should just avoid this.

I’d love your advices on this since you guys are more experienced.

    Thanks!

I think you should take proper training of Google Ads before running ads for him because you are a beginner and you would most likely be wasting his ad spend so I think you should not take chances and just leave it.

If it’s a small client with a small budget, get someone to mentor you and help you set up the whole thing, and then you may be able to take care of it on your own. You’ll obviously have to watch a lot of videos and do some readings to understand all the features, but having someone experienced to set up the whole thing and answer your questions helps a lot.

    Some very recent similar posts.

Look for the ones with $100K ad spend in the title.

If he knows you have no experience I think it’s fine to work with him and his budget. There are definitely easy mistakes to make in setup (that Google actually encourages you to make with their wording during the process) and it would benefit you to have an hour with someone to figure out the best way forward and get you going on the right foot.
