As the title states I posted a video on Snapchat maybe 6 years ago and I guess someone screen recorded it all these years later it has gone viral and has over 10 million views, Is their anything I can do as far as getting payed for my video or even filing a lawsuit on the page that posted it? Really just looking for some kinda pay day if possible has this happened to any else , also the video can be proved to be mine It’s a vlog style video With me holding the camera filming myself.

Did you file a copyright on the video or any content inside the video before the person posted it?

If not, and you posted the video to the public, it’s going to be hard to have any teeth for a claim.

Have you tried messaging the account and make a deal with them? That’s always the way to start and if they don’t answer or get complicated then you can take further if you’d like

    IANAL or an expert. However…
Reach out and ask for financial compensation/a deal. If they say no, just file a DMCA and yolo it. The laws/system favor the filer/IP holder so much you’ll be solid as fuck.

There might be a form or some legal language you can find online. You’ll get a better response if you sound like you know the law.

It depends on the platform, but I’d hope that you could have some sort of recourse through their support team.

    Worst case scenario:

    1. Make sure you have a copy of it, and upload it yourself.
    2. File a DCMA complaint and have the other one taken down.
