Why didn’t you just give him a price that you think he can’t afford and an offer to sell your username to him?
Like, IDK, how much is your rent for a year?

If he was able to take it via Instagram or trade mark he would’ve already done it without trying to press you to give it to him.

If IG wanted your username they would contact you themselves. Don’t fall for the scam, block him.

If you want to feel safe why don’t you trademark the name yourself since it’s not taken. In the US anyway it’s not expensive. Been a few years but I think it was under $200 and super simple to do.
