Someone is trying to steal my instagram username
A guy has message me over a 2 year period wanting me to give him my instagram username
My account is 5 years old and active, he messaged me today saying that he has contacted instagram and they will take my username from me if I don't give it him as he has trademarked it.
However I have searched the united kingdom (where we are both from) and United States trademark search engines and no trademark has been made with my username
Is he able to take my username? Is there anything I can do to stop him I have emailed instagram support but they will take a while to respond.

He’s just trying to scare you into giving over your account, don’t do anything.
Trademark claims don’t guarantee an account takeover as well.

Create a fake trademark doc, print it out, take a phone photo of it, send it to him in reply. Sit back and smile.

he’s just trying to bully you. “no” is a complete sentence… block him.

He is just trying to scare you off, thats it, dont give him your username!

Make sure you have two-factor authentication enabled. I had a similar situation and they resorted to trying to hack my account after I refused to give it to them.

Block him and complain to Instagram about the harassment and threats.

He can’t just trademark anything and say it’s his. He would have to take you to court and prove that you stole the name off of him and not the other way around.
It sounds like you can start reporting him, he is harassing you.
