I tried twice to post the link twice but got moderated. Here is the breakdown, the social media traffic decline is based on three different factors.

Suggested by data, Facebook is having issues with news publishers and they are pushing video more. Causing the traffic to big publications go down. Most new publishers have seen 10-20% decrease in traffic.

And Meta’s quarterly report suggested that most clicked links on the platform were linking back to social media brands like IG, Tiktok and Youtube mostly.

Then, Elon’s takeover caused twitter changes that for many is now making it harder to get traffic back to their website. With twitter even shadowbanning publications like substack. When substack became a victim it was a huge issue, but still many businesses have complained to push Ads, their organic traffic is down.

Pinterest also got into huge issues regarding protection of kids on the app. And with that they made new security changes, causing publishers to lose the traffic.

LinkedIn overall is going through an AI phase from stealing publisher content to recreate their own AI blogposts with a small creator credit within that article. And also many users are complaining they see content from the same creator 3x a week as a recommendation from AI and the creator they like will never show up.

Other than this, beside the new Link-in-bio update to Instagram, Instagram stories are known to take a dip when you include a link.

These platforms don’t want your ideal audience to leave the website.

Almost like killing organic growth & forcing an ad into every inch of screenspace wasn’t a healthy long-term plan for social media
