Hi all! I’ve been a social media manager for a little over a year now. I’m curious on two things, for local businesses … what is your starting price? And how do you get content? I’m constantly telling people I need to do content shoots but am always canceled on. I also tell them to send me content but that’s hard too for them…

    Thanks!

Starting price to manage an account and produce content is now 2k/month. I’ll also do freelance content production, at around $75 per photo and $200-300 per reel depending on scope.

Prior to this, I did traditional marketing/advertising within telecom, entertainment. I started learned photo/video about 10 yrs ago when I had to market my own business. My clients consist of higher-performing retail/hospitality businesses in my region.

i recommend setting clear expectations with clients upfront to avoid last-minute cancellations. consider sourcing user-generated content from satisfied customers to alleviate the burden of creating content. it’s often more authentic and engaging. as for pricing, it varies widely based on location, industry, and the scope of services provided.
