What is your company workflow like? I am currently working as an in-house marketer at a local entertainment company but my job is mostly lead generation, email marketing, and event planning. Playing a part in our social media is part of the job description, but it’s not a “social media analyst” or “social media manager” job per say.

Our social media is mostly just congratulatory/shout out type posts and usually highlights a job/client that one of our talents booked. Problem is, I just don’t have any access to our company’s post funnel info. Our boss and operations director are the ones who book the jobs and communicate with the clients. I am constantly asking them what jobs we booked this week or if there’s any content I could use to make a post because no part of my job involves creating or curating content.

The problem is, my boss will sometimes ask me if I have any ideas for social, and I simply have no idea what to say because I’m not the one managing the talent. Kinda makes me feel like a dofus.. Any ideas on how to navigate this situation better?

It’s usual in companies, what I have done in the past is dive in and gather the info needed yourself (asking) and try to establish pipelines so the info flows to you and then create the content.
