I do social for a few restaurants and one particular place has a DJ on Sundays. I go there to shoot food and he's so obnoxious asking me to take his pic and how I should take it (get closer higher) finally said to him in a joking way I'll send you Bill after I'm done.
A few days ago I posted a flyer for Sunday Brunch asked me if I can change pic. Sends me a few pics and he hated them. I don't want to come off as aggressive but he's getting on my last nerve and don't want to sound unprofessional to my client.
    How would you approach it

Did he hire you? Did your boss ask you to take pics of him?

If the answer is “no” to both, then the conversation is done. He needs to take it up with the restaurant owner/manager.

You are promoting the restaurant, which would include all things happening in the restaurant. It would make sense to take a few pics to advertise a DJ residency.

BUT, the DJ is not your client. The whole point of hiring entertainment is to entice people to the restaurant. In my experience, these contracts between restaurants and entertainment vendors are supposed to be mutually beneficial. The restaurant offers a venue for entertainment, the restaurant promotes the venue, entertainment brings a following to the restaurant, and then the restaurant PAYS the vendor for services. That’s it.

There is nothing more annoying than a music act assuming I would make flyers for them or try to tell me how often I should post.

You can share what I’ve put out there, but I’m not your promoter.

    Make your own damn flyers!

    /Rant over.

Take pictures of the dj deck, don’t need to show the person behind it

That sounds really annoying! Try talking to the DJ and say you appreciate his excitement, but you need to focus on the food and the restaurant’s vibe. Let him know you have a certain style for the posts. Keeping it friendly and professional can help make things easier!

Broach the topic to who hired you, chances are the owner of the restaurant is not too keen on this DJ getting free photos of his dime.
