Smart campaigns are gone, what should I do?

Posted by merey1 on September 16, 2024 at 8:10 am

Hi there. I'm new to Google ads. I have to run a campaign which would lead to a Google business profile. The client doesn't have a website.

As far as I'm concerned, smart campaigns are the only option to run an ad without a website, but they seem to be missing from the Google ads account. What should I do?

Maybe I should use my client's Facebook page as a destination link?

    Your next go-to is PMAX.

Unless your looking to do Search or Call ads.

I wouldn’t recommend you to link ads to client’s Facebook page, unless its an awareness campaign to increase their audience size.

Its time to convince your client to get a landing page, if he is not ready for a website. You’ll have much more flexibility with ad campaigns and they will be a lot more effective in generating leads/sales than sending traffic to a facebook page.

Maybe they’re missing from some new ad accounts, so you may need to create a new Google Ads account to see if the option appears there.

Yep, Google announced discontinuing them recently. I believe they still run if active but you cannot create any new ones.

Just make an Unbounce (or any page builder) page and run ads to that. It’ll make a huge difference in performance vs. sending traffic to Facebook.

The only campaign type you can run without a landing page are call only ads in search campaigns.
