    Hello!

Disclaimer: I am not from SEO, I don’t know much about it.

I work for a touring performing arts company (dancing) and as we are selling tickets in many different cities across US we are very tied to a specific location.

So before I took up my position (digital marketing) in this company they had no blog and I convinced them making one. My idea was to make at least 1 article for a specific city. Turned out that all these city specific articles are pretty similar (ChatGPT wrote them and paraphrased but we have over 40 cities!).
    So, my question is:

Is it a good idea to make articles specific for each city (optimized for some local-specific words like the venue or city) hoping that Google will index them and people can find us? Even though they are very similar.

We also made some nice basic articles about the company, dress code, dancers attire, etc.

The things is that it might be a good idea to wrire different articles for different cities provided you have enough content and context to make those posts worthwhile.

It might not make sense if it’s an exact copy paste.

Also, to be honest with you, if the blog is super new all these articles will be harder to rank anyway. Only way to bypass this would be using the social media presence your company may have thus far.

If you can share some details on the website and company name, I could probably help you a bit better.

I got you fam. Have you ever worked with ecommerce groups by chance? They tend to go out for conventions and whole sale events quite a bit. You can create a /news/ section on your site and have a post for each city you’ll be touring, details on the dates you’ll be there, the times of the shows, extra info that may pertain to that city only (example: Oh parking sucks here, please use the lot at the corner of A and B”. Then, if you have bios for your dancers you can also have a section there and you can interlink between the two.

For example: Have your /news/ or /events/ or whatever you decide to term it, then have a nice CTA element that calls out “Learn more a out our dancers” or however you’d want to phrase it. You’d make a nice little user experience nest so your users can theoretically find info about your performances and city specific details (use gpt, but please rewrite what it provides you. It does wonders to have a human rework it), and then if anyone wants to learn more about the dancers they have a nice CTA to follow. Also add in a button for “get your tickets now” and then maybe one more for another topic you can interlink to.

Be sure to call out whatever might be unique at each city! Of your company is open to ideas to, you could propose that at each city your company does one unique performance. You can then mention that in the appropriate section in these city articles. It will create a sense of “unique opportunity” to users, you know?

“Oh shit, did you see So-and-So’s Dancing Dudes are coming into town? They’re gunna do this once performance too that I guess they only do here? It’s really cool, I’d love to see how they do it.”

So, you’re wondering if crafting unique articles for each city your dance company performs in is a good idea. It’s a brilliant idea! Not only can it help your site appear in local search results, but it also creates a custom feel for each location.

But let’s be honest. Each article has to have its unique touch. You want to avoid copying-pasting the same stuff for every city because that could make Google unhappy. You want to avoid duplicate content. But don’t stress – you can still use a basic template. Just ensure you sprinkle in details about each city, like the venue, local landmarks, and some cultural tie-ins with your performances. This way, each piece feels unique and valuable.

And remember those local keywords! Slide in the city’s name, the venue, local events, that kind of thing. This helps your articles pop up when folks search for local performing arts events.

The same goes for your metadata – like your title tags and meta descriptions. Pop those local keywords in there too!

Quality matters more than quantity. Sure, having a bunch of articles is excellent, but not if they’re all just rehashes of the same thing. Focus on creating a few stellar pieces for each city.

And why not get your content out there on local online channels? Think of local news sites, blogs, and social media groups. That can help boost your articles’ visibility.

Those essential articles about your company, what to wear, etc., are a big thumbs up! They’re super helpful for anyone thinking of attending your shows.

Remember, SEO is a long game. You might see results later, but keep at it. Keep tweaking things based on what works and what doesn’t.

Using AI like ChatGPT to whip up these articles is a smart move! Could you make sure to give the content a once-over? A little human touch can make it even better. So even if an AI does the heavy lifting, a human eye can always add that extra sparkle.
