  • Should I make a new instagram account for better growth?

First post here, hope this is the right place.

Long story short: I do music and I always focused on the western audience, but for some reason I got a tiny bit of fame in russia (2020-2021 ish), so most of my followers were russian. After the war and IG ban in russia it's hella more difficult to get followers, been stuck at 8k ever since.

How likely is it that the algorithm sees all of those dead accounts and never recommends my posts?

Been thinking about starting fresh, but I don't know much about the algorithm and if it would be a good choice.

Consistency is #1. You can start fresh or revive a dead account. Make sure you have at least two posts per day for 30 days. So 60 pieces of content. Schedule them out. Preferably videos or slides, which get more views. Create an engaging caption for each one. Make some longer videos (90 seconds, 3 minutes) and some shorter ones (5 seconds, 15 seconds). Do loops. Use tending music. Use relevant hashtags, not too many. Look at what other successful accounts to see what they’re doing. Try a variety of things to see what works best.

Given the recent IG ban in Russia and its impact on your follower base, it’s quite possible that the algorithm might be struggling with those inactive accounts, which could affect your post recommendations.

Starting fresh with a new account could be a good strategy to build a more engaged audience from scratch. It allows you to target and attract new followers who are genuinely interested in your music, and it might give you a better chance to leverage the algorithm in your favor.

Of course, this means you’ll need to rebuild your following, but it might be worth it if you’re finding that your current account isn’t performing as well due to inactive followers.

Starting fresh could help you reset and target the right audience. It’s a chance to build a new following with a clean slate and better align with your current goals.

Obviously, opening a new account is the best choice. It will help you determine the audience for your videos.

I would not recommend starting anew, but given the history and all that ban, I’d suggest making a new Instagram. Create relevant content, be consistent, and run ads to raise brand awareness among your targeted audience and niche. Hopefully, you’ll see a difference, but it will take time.

Starting fresh with a new account can sometimes help if you feel like your current one is stuck, especially if your engagement is low despite having a solid follower count. However, before you go that route, it’s worth looking at how you’re handling content and engagement first. Sometimes, switching up your strategy can have a bigger impact than starting from scratch.

One way to refresh your content strategy without restarting is by incorporating new and diverse types of content. A good option could be using **PLR videos** (Private Label Rights). These are customizable videos that you can easily tailor to your brand, giving you fresh content ideas without having to film everything yourself. Posting more varied, high-quality content could help re-engage your audience and attract new followers.

If you’re interested, I run a platform called **VidsCave/en/** that offers different PLR video bundles across a variety of categories like fitness, cooking, lifestyle, and more. Even if you don’t find a bundle that fits your niche right away, you can subscribe since we’re always adding new bundles. This way, you’ll have fresh content options coming in regularly that you can customize and make your own.

Growth doesn’t always mean starting over – sometimes, it’s about evolving what you already have. Good luck!
