Should I edit pages that are ranking good but not great?
I am wondering when it is appropriate to edit pages that are ranking between 4-10 for our keywords. We would like to obviously rank between 1-3, but I am afraid that after adding content it will hurt our rankings.

Don’ do it with all of the pages. Just choose one page and improve it in terms of content (not only text) and internal linking.
And wait to see what happens 🙂

If you are ranking 4-10, unless they are extremely high volume keywords, you probably are not getting very much traffic from them anyhow. You have nothing (or very little) to lose.

I would, I think Google likes to see new edits. Check competitor and see how they are ranking, you can always revert.
