  • Should I convert my Instagram creator account about wealth to a personal business real estate account?

I have an instagram account that I used for almost a year and it has 7,000 real followers on it. Since I don’t use it to make weath reels content anymore, I wanted to convert it into my real estate business account as a new realtor. Is it better to keep and start with this account, or make and start a new account from scratch? And if I should keep it, should I keep the viral reels I have on it?

It’s probably not going to work the same way.

I can see why you would think it is related, but it isn’t, and those following the wealth creator account are probably low value.

Imagine I said to you “I’ve got this channel on Instagram about football, but I’m now more in to basketball so I’m thinking of changing it up”

Sure, some people may stay, and still follow you, but you’ll get much less interaction since the audience didn’t come for that. To add to this, there will be much lower interaction so IG will seem your new content low quality- you’ll penalise your new business because you wanted to follow the vanity metrics (the followers).

You’d be better off with 500 engaged relevant clients following than you would with people who wanted your old content.

7000 isn’t enough followers to worry about it either waya

I say make the change. People will definitely unfollow you, but some might stay. Gary Vee used to talk about wine and be the wine guy before he started talking entrepreneurship on the same Twitter page. You could even do a post explaining the change.

I changed my portrait photography/street photography page to a sports photography account at 2k followers. I probably lost 150 followers but also gained 200 people who liked what I was doing. Many existing followers stayed and still supported, even if not feverishly.

In the end people will follow what they think brings them value.
