  • Sharing Pwd with Social Media Management?

Posted by International-Spare2 on June 14, 2023 at 2:37 pm

I found a “professional looking” guy on Fiverr who said they can manage my business’s social media. Do I just share my company password’s for Pinterest, TikTok, Instagram, etc?

Will they be able to do something silly with the password? Is this even okay with their terms of agreement? Anyone who has an experience with this?

Add them as a manager/editor via the Meta suite.

Password sharing is okay in a company with an employee and a contract. Big teams use third party app like Last Pass.

I wouldn’t trust a fiverr contractor with access.

Unfortunately, sharing password is the only way right now to give someone access to Instagram and yes that means the guy have complete control the same as you, so double make sure it’s trustworthy.
Facebook has a function to add manager which is neat, not sure why they don’t do this to IG.

I would suggest that instead of just going for a social media manager who will just manage and post stuffs, you should go ahead with someone who promises growth on your brands digital presence. Social media is stuffed with a lot of competition. And just managing the socials for the sake of it won’t do any good. I can give you some solid plans if you would like to have a discussion over chat. Let me know. And all the best????????

    ????????????

    A few things:

    1. When it comes to approvals, YOU set the approval process. It’s 100% normal for them to create posts for you to approve in advance. We create editorial calendars in Sheets and there’s even a checkbox for clients to mark if it’s approved to run or not.

    2. Some platforms do not require password sharing. For Meta (FB and Instagram) and LinkedIn, you can add them as a user.

    3. Try to only hire a contractor in your country. GIVE THEM A CONTRACT outlining expected conduct and deliverables.

In the US, you can confirm this via an email. But have a very clear agreement about what will happen and also, how you will separate from the contractor when it is time.

    4. Finally, ask them for examples of success on social media and make sure you see eye-to-eye on metrics that matter.

The last thing you want is some screw zoo buying bots or going in engagement pods to claim they got you X number of followers, when your #1 metric is phone calls from local customers. In which case, your strategy should lean more heavily on FB groups versus whatever.

I get your anxiety about sharing your passwords to some “Fiverr guy” because I’ve been to a similar situation as well before. But I found a way where I would no longer need to give him those account details and that is through zoomsphere. Much of the platforms you mentioned here are readily available to Zoomsphere which aren’t available on free tools like Meta Suite. But the gist is that, since using Zoomsphere, I no longer have the worry of giving away my log-in details because I can easily add them as a team member. It’s that simple, plus you can immediately stay organized with them.
