  • SEO Mindset Shifts that changed the game for my website performance

In 2017 when I started doing SEO, I had all these crazy beliefs. These beliefs led me down a certain path. And to be honest, that path wasn’t very fun!

It involved a whole lot of effort and nearly ZERO business results. I’d spend my entire evenings and weekends doing SEO, only for the efforts to initially fall flat. Why? Because my mindset was all jacked up about SEO and Marketing.

You see, it’s actually all about mindset. Most of the problems that I see are brought on by mindsets over certain approaches to marketing.

Once I figured these out, SEO made more sense for the business.

Don’t fall for these mindset traps…

    1. Investing in SEO is all about compounding returns

When you invest in SEO, you’re not just playing a short-term game. Just like compounding interest, SEO builds momentum over time. Each piece of optimized content, each high-quality backlink, and every technical tweak adds up, creating a snowball effect that compounds. It's why you see the big returns with SEO compared to PPC.

    2. There are “wrong” ways to do SEO

Just like in investing, where putting your money in the wrong places can lead to significant losses, there are wrong ways to do SEO that can hurt your company more than help it. Buying risking backlinks, producing hundreds of generic AI content, etc, are a few examples.

    3. Anything easy to do will reap less rewards

Taking the easy route in SEO might seem tempting, but it’s like choosing fast food over a gourmet meal – it might fill you up for now, but it’s not going to nourish your business in the long run.

By switching your mindset, you’ll be so much more successful in the long run with your organic search growth. 🙂
