SEO for Image Renderings vs Actual Images
Question about good image naming conventions for SEO. I work on a B2B ecommerce site that sells industrial safety equipment. We have many products that are essentially the same, just in various sizes and colors. We use renderings for many of our product images b/c they tend to be more accurate and require less work/time/money to create than procuring actual photos of each individual color/size.
We follow standard SEO best practices for our image naming conventions, company-wide. However, our design team recently asked if they can start adding “rendering” (or similar) to the file names of the product renders, to help differentiate on their end and in our dam. I want to know if this will have any negative effects for SEO if we start adding this designation to our image file names on product pages. Or does it even matter?
Any advice on this subject would be appreciated.
