SEO agency quoted 10k/month
Posted by dddx187 on November 10, 2023 at 6:23 amAn SEO quoted me 10k/month for optimization and content. Is this fair? Hired cheap agency before that didn’t work out.
Thanks!

GuestNovember 10, 2023 at 6:31 amNo way of knowing without details. When I was inhouse, we were paying an agency 12.5K/month.
Is it a retainer rate or is that the quote based on estimated hourly rate?

GuestNovember 10, 2023 at 7:22 amIf you can post more details, I can let you know. 10k/month might be a good deal or might be a terrible deal. Without knowing the variables involved, it’s impossible to say

GuestNovember 10, 2023 at 7:32 amIt’s fairly standard for top tier agencies. Something like Optimist or Grow and Convert.

GuestNovember 10, 2023 at 7:34 amSo for reference we just quoted a b2b SaaS 5k that gets:
– 6 outlines and finished articles and/or landing pages
– 15 backlinks
– GA4 management
– 5 hours of ad hoc SEO, like competitor analysis, extra keyword research or random on-page edits. The only time we were charging close to 9k for SEO was when our writers were charging us 1k per article.
Hope that helps.

GuestNovember 10, 2023 at 7:46 amUnless you’re sharing details of your website and/or details of the deliverables, there’s literally no way of knowing.
My agency’s quoted clients as low as 1k and as high as 15k, depending on the extent of the work, the results they wanted, the competition, etc.
And we’ve also had clients who were willing to throw money our way but we didn’t onboard them because based on what we saw there wasn’t much opportunity for them.
So, there’s really not enough information to go off of.
What you can do is ask the agency for a basic audit, I’m guessing they’ve already done that. Get another agency to audit the opportunities and cross check with the one you got from the current agency. And then if all’s good hire them. If not look around a bit more

GuestNovember 10, 2023 at 8:29 amhire a freelancer team…depends on the markets, but a good team can do the work for half of that

GuestNovember 10, 2023 at 8:35 amIt depends…
What do they deliver each month & what quality are the articles and links?
What is a new customer worth to you on average?
What is your markets estimated traffic potential?
For example, personal injury lawyers make 10k+ per case, so they would only need 1 new client per month to break even.
…it all depends.

GuestNovember 10, 2023 at 9:28 amWell 10k per month for optimization and content alone is quite on the higher end. It should include other deliverables like link building, technical SEO, social media marketing, etc. CRO should be part of it, too.
Otherwise, content and onpage optimization can cost half that amount or even less depending on how frequently they will publish content and whether your site has some content or is completely new.

GuestNovember 10, 2023 at 12:05 pmWow i feel extremely underpaid now. We are based out of India and we’re charging 500 – 1k dollars a month for our western clients.
Do not even get me started on how much we’re getting paid for our local clients. Lol.

GuestNovember 10, 2023 at 12:34 pmThat budget isn’t necessarily an issue…what outcomes are they offering / promising?
You typically want an agency that is focused on outcomes that move the needle…. sales or leads rather than visits, hits or clicks.
