Rough PPC freelancer rate?
Posted by Chaos743 on November 17, 2023 at 3:47 pmWhat are some average PPC freelancer rates for a SaaS spending £20-30k on Google ads (minimal on Microsoft search) per month?
This would be someone with experience measuring pipeline contribution and have access to our CRM for attribution / offline conversion tracking.
Edit: Looking for a monthly retainer pricing model.

GuestNovember 17, 2023 at 3:53 pm$50-250 per hour. I realize that’s a big range but at this budget, I think that’s fair.
Our firm charges $100-$150 per hour, depending on scope.

GuestNovember 17, 2023 at 4:08 pmStarting at 2k per month and raising to 10% of total media spend under management once Media spend exceeds 20k per month.
That would get you covered for all the above on an ongoing basis.
Some initial setup addons maybe needed depending on the complexity of a required ad account, attribution and tracking build. -

GuestNovember 17, 2023 at 4:12 pmThere are no averages really. A SaaS brand in trouble is going to be charged different rates then one is who scaling to the moon. Even if the work on both is exactly the same on paper.
A LinkedIn post mentioned a [600+ agency survey about pricing](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7128388178805182469/) for PPC management. Billable hours was the most answered at 23% but otherwise, it was all over the map on and what agencies and freelancers charged.
Plus reporting, comms, and the amount of value they can bring to the business should get factored into what they can charge. Averages never take into account proper context, which misses the mark on what someone should and could charge.

GuestNovember 17, 2023 at 4:40 pm£2,000 – £3,500 per month. Maybe even £4,000+ if you’re a boutique agency/freelancer.

GuestNovember 17, 2023 at 5:56 pmSome freelancers also charge like a percentage of the total ad spend as their management fee. So as you mentioned your budget is 20-30k then the freelancer could say that 20 or 30% of the ad spend is their fee.

GuestNovember 17, 2023 at 7:41 pmAny PPC agency or individual is going to ask questions about the number of average hours it will take to manage your account. Price should be attached to the amount of work it takes to properly manage the account, and the experience level of the person doing the work.
Watch out for the agencies that want to charge too little or too much and that won’t give you an answer on estimated hours per month to manage your account.
PPC management isn’t an exact science but people with knowledge and experience will be able to figure out and provide an OK estimate on avg number of hours per month.

GuestNovember 18, 2023 at 9:50 amPPC management low end would be about 10% of ad spend and the high end would be 25% of ad spend. A freelancer you should probably be closer to the low end unless they are a top guru with a strong reputation. PPC specialty agencies would typically cost a bit more.
The fee structure is important with respect to whether you want a value-based service, fixed pricing, or to pay for hours.

Of course what’s included in your services also matters. If you’re adding landing page management, email marketing, and other stuff this can go up significantly.
