Reverse Engineering Agency owned Ad Account

Posted by seohelper on May 14, 2020 at 4:22 am

First off, I feel it’s in the best interest of the site owner to also own their ad account.

However in this case, site owner farmed out Google Ads to an agency who runs ads based on results from data gained by running ads across multiple clients in the same industry.

The site owner has access to their own analytics, search console, and unused Google Ads account.

Is there a way for them to begin pulling keyword data and what Google Ads we’re running on the website?

I was thinking if there was a way to view incoming search terms via console and match with analytics conversions, that’s half the puzzle to get an idea of converting search terms.

But how exactly would they find out the ads that converted?

If the google ads account they used is linked to your clients google analytics account then you should be able to pull that report.

Using that same report you should be able to add secondary dimensions to view ad content to get an idea.

If the account is unlinked this will be really hard to do. As the agency running the ads could use their own tracking or set up tracking using GAds tags.

In order to get the data that convert in analytics then analytics and ads should be linked

Google search console doesn’t provide conversion data, linked or not.
