Research on keeping users on platform?
Does anyone know of any resources that put some authority behind what most of us seem to know to be true – that keeping users on platform has specific revenue (and other) benefits?
Having worked with two platforms over the last few years, it seems common knowledge across the people I’ve worked with that we want to keep users on platform as much as possible. I’ve spent many hours defining and developing structural hooks to enhance UX and product strategies that keep people on-platform for additional content consumption, and by extension, revenue, data capture, other roi metrics/etc.
However, I can’t seem to find any reports/articles that define the benefits of keeping people on platform. Does support for keeping people on-platform exist outside of individual platforms’ proprietary research?
Thank you.
