Real social networking
I’ve been searching for a social networking site/app that is truly a social site. Not something where people go to air their frustrations or belittle others or berate someone’s political beliefs. In had zero luck finding anything. If you know of something like this, leave a link.

We have a social media super app in beta called Jabburr that allows users to pick their interests instead of algorithms and pixel tracking.

What is your goal for being on said social media site?

We’re launching a site that is designed to be “truly social”. I think you’re running into a few specific issues that are messing you up. Might be different than you’d expect.
1. **Lack of respect** – no sites optimize on respect or even measure it. If they care, they can only set up suggestions or moderate disrespect away. As a result, everyone is just a little more sour than is natural.
2. **Bad politics** – could be that you don’t want to hear from people who are very far from your views. Or just that any politics aggravates you. Either way, it should be easy to avoid this and run into people who feel the same. Without dropping friends who disagree.
3. **Friends vs influencers** – The real issue is often the effect of influencers. They’re pretty much like watching TV, except you develop these parasocial relationships where they feel like friends, even though they don’t know your name. Watching TV can be great, but sometimes I want to hang out with friends – even if they’re not quite as interesting as celebrities. -
