Rank on Google without Backlinks: Here is what’s Working
Indeed, I can't afford backlinks. Backlinks are expensive. So my strategy has always been to find alternative ways to rank on Google.
As a result, I mostly figure out what works on Google besides backlinks. It's not as hard as people believe it to be. (And yes, as Google says, it keeps changing over time.)
A few years ago, before the AI boom, ranking was pretty easy. You just had to find related keywords from Google auto-suggest, insert them sensibly, and BOOM!
It's not working anymore.
I mean, it still can work, but Google will catch it and put it under a shadow ban. (I don't want to discuss this in detail because it's a long discussion.)
Well, after the AI boom, you have to prove yourself authoritative to gain Google's trust to play the game.
When I say authority, I don't mean you need to be among the top 2% of the field.. You just need the right information about the topic, which you get from research.
You could say, a lot of research. Makes sense?
To make a long story short, currently, creating authoritative content works well.
Authoritative content means a page that has the potential to leave a very good impression on the user. (A great UX).
Secondly, you have to satisfy the searcher's intent.
By searcher intent, I mean all the searchers! You can delve deep to find out the pain points and aspirations of the searchers to satisfy them. You can call it Semantic SEO, keyword intent, but this is very important.
And the rest is easy.
Internally link your content, add valuable visuals, write appealing titles, and have a description that can summarize the whole topic.
And cover a decent amount of topics around the primary topic.
That's all you can do to rank without backlinks.
I have applied the same strategy to a recent website, and it's skyrocketing in the first month. You can see how it's going.
I am working on another B2B project and will apply the same strategy and share the results too.
