  • Question on linking to outside sites and no-follow

    Hey everyone,

I have a question about when to use no-follow when linking away from my site. If I have a blog post for a local services company, when do I use no-follow? Or do I even need to?

I’ve found a bunch of info on no-follow backlinks to my site, but not many on outbound links.

I only use ‘follow’ links for authority websites like BBC, .gov, etc

Only use no-follow if they pay you to link to them or when you’re writing something negative about them.

Make sure to let the link open in a new tab to increase your time on page.

You should only use nofollow (or sponsored) if they are paying for the link, in which case make it obvious that the placement is sponsored. Other than that, there’s no benefit to using nofollow for an outbound link.
