  • Question About Personal vs Page LinkedIn Reach

A client asked an interesting question today that I didn’t have an answer to.

Let’s say you have 2,000 connections + followers on your personal LinkedIn and you have a company page that also has 2,000 followers. If a piece of content got nearly identical engagement, would the reach be the same? Or would it be higher for one account vs the other? Are posts from a personal account more valuable than from a page?

TBH, the only difference between one and the other is the way you engage.

Hello ???? We are Luna, a small Digital Agency whose mission is to help small and micro businesses build an online presence. We might know a thing or two about Social Media.

In theory, both profiles should have the “same value”: the same amount of users, nearly identical engagement, etc. However, the reach of the personal account might indeed be better than the reach of the business account. People will naturally look to engage with other people (this is why too lots of businesses have “a face” rather than just a logo, people like representation). On top of that, LinkedIn company pages are entirely passive and don’t allow you to increase engagement if it is low on your page: when was the last time you saw someone’s post being commented on by a business page?

Of course, it is still a good idea to have both and post on both: A page will look professional and can also often be found on Google as LinkedIn pages are SEO-friendly.

As per my understanding, personal accounts are generally seen as more genuine by the algorithm, so your personal account is likely to have a higher reach and visibility.
