    Question about Audience Affinity

Posted by TwoBuckChuckles on March 24, 2023 at 6:57 pm

So I am curious about how Meta uses audience interest and demographics in ad targeting. For example, If I select “recently married” and “self storage” as audience demographics/interests for a self storage ad, would the ad only show to people who meet both criteria? is it possible the self storage ad could show up for people solely because they were recently married? How does this work exactly?

In meta, you have an option to do AND/OR targeting. There’s usually a fine print and it’s easy to spot.

By default Facebook groups interests as OR. So clicking both of these would target those recently married or those interested in self storage. A little underneath the interests box is a button to narrow the audience. That then allows you to add as AND. Add recently married, narrow the audience, then add self storage, and you’ll be targeting to those matching both.
