  • Question about 301 redirecting a website.

I want to 301 redirect a website to my main website but trying not to lose the backlink profile. Website1 has backlinks coming to the www, non www, http and https version. Do i have to redirect all these to 1 version and then redirect the whole domain or can I just redirect whole domain without fixing the different versions?

You’ll want to do two things:

    * 301 Redirect your canonical URL from the old site to the new site:
    (`https://oldsite.tld –301–> https://newsite.tld`)
    * Set up your webserver config (NGINX or Apache) to rewrite/redirect all traffic (i.e. http-www, http-non-www, https-www all get rewritten to your canonical https-non-www).

This should take care of things without losing any ranking signals.
