Price is Mismatched in MC because I’m in the UK and Google is in the US – Please Advise

Posted by seohelper on May 14, 2020 at 3:25 pm

So my UK based client recently launched in the US. We used WPML in WordPress to translate the pages to US English. It detects user’s browser language and decides wether to show UK or US version of the site. We also have a feature that switches the currency from £ to $ based on the same thing.

Recently products get disapproved in my shopping campaigns, and digging down I learned that Google’s crawler reads the price in $, from the US version, and the price in my (manual) feed is in £ so obviously there’s a mismatch.

Any ideas on how that could be fixed please? I only want to run shopping across the UK for now.

Nothing you can do. This is simply how the policy works.

You’ll need separate landing pages for each currency.

I understand the landing page situation. Support will say the same since it’s simply part of the policy:

    https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/4752265?hl=en-GB

“Show the same price in your target country regardless of region.”

Your options are to have separate landing pages per currency, or to use Google’s currency conversion

If the issue is just Google crawling the wrong currency due to wherever its severs are crawling from, you should be able to fix it by adding in “country=UK&currency=GBP” parameters to the end of each product URL – this will tell Google to display the country/currency configuration no matter where it’s crawling from – we’ve had similar issues with a few clients and adding in the appropriate country/currency parameters has always fixed the issue.

Are you not running two shopping feeds? You should have a shopping feed in each currency if you don’t already. Also, if your UK GMC does and CSS… then you would need a 2nd GMC account for none CSS countries.
