Possible to exclude “Microsoft sites and select traffic” on search ads?

Posted by ryans91 on December 1, 2023 at 3:45 pm

I have a search campaign running on microsoft ads that’s extended to the audience network as well. Performance on the audience network is really good, while search on “Microsoft sites and select traffic” is not. I did try building out audience only campaigns, but for whatever reason performance isn’t good on those either (possibly because of lack of keyword targeting?).

Is it possible to block search on microsoft properties and have the budget move mainly to audience, even though it’s a search campaign? Right now the budget is spending 50/50, but search is super unprofitable while audience is right at goal.

Also noticing that looking at demographics, results look good but that’s because with search campaigns it excludes “unknown” from the report. So my demo report only shows half of the total spend, but 90% of the conversions. Is it possible to block that unknown traffic as well?

Excluding Microsoft sites and fine-tuning traffic on search ads can be like navigating a maze blindfolded, am I right? It’s all about finding that sweet spot where your ads reach the right audience without wasting precious resources.

Personally, I think having the ability to exclude specific sites and tailor your ad audience is a game-changer. It’s like being able to customize your ride with all the bells and whistles. As for my take on the question posed in the topic, I’d say it’s definitely possible to exclude Microsoft sites and select traffic on search ads. With the right strategy and tools at your disposal, anything is possible in the digital realm.
