Please god help me rank
Hello Reddit,
5 years ago I started my website [bigfootskatemag.com](https://bigfootskatemag.com) to pursue my dream of supporting women’s skateboarding via much needed media exposure. I knew only the basics of SEO and had yoast installed in this wordpress site.
Recently I met a woman who works in SEO and she gave me some tips, and I installed RankMath. I even paid like $50 for the Ai basics (which I apparently never received?)
Anyway, I am not even ranking with the keyword women’s skateboarding, which is really frustrating. I have been posted at my desk for weeks trying to improve my site but I am all alone in this effort and feel like I’m totally failing. My site/media company is actually one of a very few that cover this world, but large companies like the X-games and Redbull and stuff, with obviously very powerful SEO capabilities. I don’t even think RankMath is saving the changes I have tried to make? Anyway, if anyone would be willing to give me some fairly basic tips, a tool, or advice of any kind, I would certainly appreciate it. This is a labor of love for me, I grew up in a very anti-female skateboarding culture and care deeply about helping create a better landscape for the younger skaters of today. That being said, It has drained my bank accounts, time, and optimism and I really, really could use a boost. For starters, I don’t think that query’s as long tail as you seem to think it is…
For seconds, those words “women’s skateboarding” don’t appear on your home page. Something to consider.
Your site is loading very poorly for me. Are you using some sort of cheap-o hosting or something?
What’s your traffic like? What queries do you want to rank for?

go through indexsy’s recent youtube tutorials. it’s new af, he’s been doing it daily for like.. 2 weeks or so. there are loads of freebies you can use.

I wanna say I love the design of your site. Id be curious to see what search console is ranking for it.
You would stand to benefit by adding some text and h1 -h3 to mainpage. Maybe an about page what uses keyword women’s skateboarding in H1 or h2s etc
Also an about page would serve well as to showcase your brand.
Also. I ran page speed insights from Google and shows some performance issues and some missing resources. This will really hurt your site.

I’ve never used rankmath but I’ve heard okay things, just take everything with grain of salt, yoast is a fine tool also.
Also if other commenterd bothered to even look or not but you can definitely rank for that keyword if fix up errors, performance and optimize for it. You rank well for other keywords and have a healthy backlinks profile.
You have a great site and people love your content. You have a great backlinks profile as a result.
Make sure you sign up for free semrush and take advantage of their site audit tool and maybe watch some videos on how to use it. You get 10 queries a day but if you have several emails account you can rotate them.

Stop focusing on just SEO and start focusing on marketing.

The reason you are not ranking is because, in order:
– you don’t have enough authority (99% chance)
– you have a technical error (smaller than 1% chance)
– you have a penalty (smaller than 1% chance)
The way to get authority is by getting backlinks from authoritative websites. There are 4 ways to do this:
1) wait while people find your site and like the content so much they link to you, and this doesn’t work if you don’t rank for anything
2) buy backlinks from vendors. 99% of them are scammers
3) do guest posting or link outreach. This can work, but it’s inefficient and possibly dangerous
4) educate yourself on how they work and build your own portfolio of authoritative websites to use. This takes longer, costs more in the short term, but is much more effective and safer

My Suggestion for your keyword “women’s skateboarding” Try to Make as much as possible with natural internal links with Keywords and a Page That you want to rank for “women’s skateboarding” You have About 466 Page on Google Try to make internal link as much as possible naturaly with contents

You need to optimize your website. Plugin doesn’t help in ranking.
They are just support.

Haven’t checked your website or the industry you’re in yet. But based on experience, ranking for exact match keywords like “Women’s skateboarding” isn’t going to be easy. But that’s just a hunch. I’ll shoot you a DM with my thoughts once I check the site tho.
