Yes, it went okay but ROI wasn’t fantastic. I tried both local (Toronto) and ads throughout the US/Canada. Budget size is relative of course, I think $5K month, that was like 4-5 years ago. I would def spend more now with the necessity for decent conversion volume to drive automated bidding.
Bottom line is you need to have solid brand awareness and social proof, then keep at Google Ads for a while (4-6 months at least) to get things dialed in.
Even so the cost per qualified lead is very high compared to other channels an agency can get leads from: referrals, directories, freelancing sites, organic marketing like articles, YouTube, etc.
But if you have a dominant brand it can definitely work, SearchKings (popular Toronto PPC company) cleans up with Google Ads.
