    I’m in the process of overhauling a client’s website based in Thailand, which is relatively new and struggling with page rankings.

    The current URL structure looks like this:

    * Thai version: /new-post-th
    * English version: /en/new-post

    Considering the site’s low traffic and poor rankings, I’m debating whether to streamline the Thai URLs by removing the “-th” suffix and implementing 301 redirects.

    What are your thoughts on the best approach to optimize these multilingual URLs for SEO purposes? Should I restructure or keep them unchanged?

    Take into account that in addition to adding the redirects, you should also update internal links as well as hreflang and canonical tags to point to the new URLs, otherwise, the change may hurt SEO more than improve it.

    Regarding the URL structure, I think it makes sense to change it as you said if Thai is the site’s default language.

    It is better to have separate domain names for each language or country version of your multilingual website. For example, regional targeting. But it can be expensive because building backlinks and authority for each can consume resources, time, and effort.
