    one pixel, two shopify stores..?

Posted by seohelper on May 14, 2020 at 12:01 am

I currently have one digital store in the US (.com) and one digital store in Canada (.ca). Right now, our FB pixel is only integrated into our US site and we are retargeting US website visitors on Facebook. It’s working great.

We now want to start retargeting our Canadian site visitors. Here’s the issue: If folks find our business in Canada, they are redirected from our US store to our CAN site. Makes sense. But I’m wondering how this would affect pixel tracking from FB. If we install the same FB pixel on BOTH our .com and .ca site, will the pixel fire twice (count one user as two users) if they are redirected from our US site to our CAN site?

I imagine the solution to this is getting the pixel to read our US site ( .com) and Canadian site ( .ca) as the same property… I’m not sure if the pixel would automatically do this or what.

Any help / insight would be greatly appreciated!

It would be two visits/page views… one for each site but it would be one user across both sites. Same if they add to cart on each site, it would be two add to cart (one for each site). If you sell the same product on both sites, you should have the same pixel across each site. Then just use a DPA feed for each site as I imagine the pricing might be different for each site.
