I’ve been doing my own SEO work for 10+ years. It is getting to be too much work, so I signed up with Neil Patel’s agency NPaccel to help optimize my freshly updated site.

The small business package was $1800 a month for 6 months plus a start-up audit of $1800. That’s $12k+ total. I wanted the keyword research and strategy and figured they had some kind of secret sauce. Spoiler alert…

After some light on-page SEO (my site was already in good shape) the bulk of the work ended up being 4 guest posts a month. The sites they used had low DA (under 40) and not much context for my niche. I can buy better guest posts for less $ elsewhere.

I did get access to expensive enterprise monitoring software for a few months, but they ended that in favor of their own google sheets app dashboard which has less data than google search console.

For the last month, we switched to content creation and I got 5 poorly written 500 word articles that are not really usable. Neil Patel himself recommends long-form 2000 word plus blogs, so I thought it was strange. It will take me a while to re-write these into something usable.

End Result: NPaccel increased the total number of ranking keywords by 50%, but average positions went down. DA is +2. Overall search impressions have gone up 20%, but clicks and traffic remain the same.

Has anyone received a positive ROI with NPaccel? Do you use Ubersuggest or any other NP products?

Thank you for this info. Do you think it would have been more impactful had you been less efficient at doing your own SEO?

I think you should not continue with them.

I have used Ubersuggest and its a decent tool. I would never pay for any SEO package or platform because the search engine algorithms are so machine-learning dependent now. These packages don’t address consumer experience and goals. A blog post or a backlink isn’t necessarily going to move the needle if it’s not adding value to the end consumer or building the brand’s authority because the consumer trusts them based on a great valuable experience.

Your content must address the consumer’s needs to help them achieve their end result. Build content in various forms that move consumers closer to the desired goals which should be tied to the mission of the business. Building content for the sake of ranking, keywords, and backlinks is a waste of time in my honest opinion. Instead, build content that will answer common questions of your target audience.

Google has always said to focus on the user instead of the algorithm and everything else will take care of itself. I believe this is much truer nowadays. Focus on the things that would make consumers want to interact and with your website and want to return because they find value in their experience.

He´s outsourcing all his work, look for someone else for that amount of money.

Ask for case-studies and some of the links they have created for their clients previously and go from there.

I hope more people read this and realize that this is why SEOs consider Neil a joke. He is a good marketer, but a lousy SEO.

12K? For WHAT? This is why our industry has a bad name.

As soon as I read “Neil Patel,” I knew where this story was headed.

I think that Neil is largely considered a joke/buffoon in these parts. Just watch a few of his videos – for example, he argues that DA is better than tbPR (toolbar PageRank) because its on a scale of 1-100 instead of 1-10. Anyone worth any salt would find that hysterical unless he’s being ironic in a sort homage to 1-11 from Spinal Tap. I’m sorry he ripped you off – you owe it to him, yourself and future victims to leave a review on G2, Google etc outlining your experience.

Well done for wasting 12k. Maybe next time go with a proper agency rather than a fake guru

Could you share the proposal he gave you. Be interested to see how he sells it in. Thanks
